I am a first-year college student studying in New York City. In my junior year of high school, I re-triggered my autoimmune disease, Alopecia, causing hair loss. For months, I would wear a wig to social events and performances in order to hide my insecurities.
I was very fortunate to be able to afford a wig thanks to the love and support I received from my family, but I know there are other children who don't have the same experiences. Hosting this campaign is my way of giving back and providing support to any child out there going through the same or even worse conditions.
I hope you can participate in either a small or big way. No matter the size, just by initiating action makes a difference.
What We Do
Strands of Hope is a year-round, ongoing hair donation campaign in hopes of collecting enough hair donations and financial donations to help children nationwide receive a wig due to hair loss from conditions including cancer, Alopecia, burns, and others.

You may be wondering:
Is it safe to donate hair during the current circumstances?
As long as you adhere to the social distancing regulations, it is safe for you as the hair donor and the hair stylist. The hair stylists will all be wearing masks. There are also no extra guests allowed in order to reduce the amount of contact. Each stylist will run efficient and safe appointments to save time and reduce the risks.
Is there a way to still contribute without becoming a hair donor?
Keep in mind that the campaign is year round, meaning if you can, you can always become a hair donor at a later time.

In addition, financial contributions are always welcomed and greatly appreciated. All financial donations are 100% directly donated to Wigs For Kids.
How do I know if my hair is accepted?

How do I know this is genuine?
All donations can be tracked by you. If you are a hair donor, once the organization receives your donation, they will notify you through email or mail with an appreciation letter or certificate.
Monetary donations are 100% donated to Wigs For Kids as the fundraising site is directly associated with Wigs For Kids themselves.
